• Tensile Strength: ≥ 380 MPa
• Yield Strength: ≥ 210 MPa

EN43B – BRIGHT BAR Heat Treatment:

The way you heat treat the EN43B Bright Bar depends on its size, shape and what it will be used for. You need to choose the temperature, how long to heat it how to cool it and what to cool it with to get the mechanical properties you want.

EN43B – BRIGHT BAR Hardening:

• Temperature: 840 – 870°C
• Quenching Medium: Oil

EN43B – BRIGHT BAR Tempering:

• Temper Immediately: After quenching, temper the steel while it is still hand warm.
• Reheat and Soak: Reheat to the tempering temperature and soak for one hour per 25 mm of thickness (minimum two hours). Cool in air.
• Typical Tempering Range: 550 – 660°C

EN43B – BRIGHT BAR Physical Properties:

• Density: 7.85 g/cm³ (0.284 lb/in³)

EN43B – BRIGHT BAR Thermal Properties:

• Annealing Temperature: 680 – 710°C; cool slowly in the furnace.

EN43B – BRIGHT BAR Forging Properties:

• Preheat: Carefully, then raise temperature to 1100°C for forging.
• Avoid Forging Below: 850°C
• Post-Forging Cooling: Cool slowly, preferably in a furnace.

EN43B – BRIGHT BAR Stress Relieving:

• Procedure: Stress relieve after heavy machining by heating to 600 – 650°C, soaking for about two hours per 25 mm of section, then cool in air.

EN43B – BRIGHT BAR Normalizing:

• Note: Normalizing is not typically required for this steel due to its air-hardening ability.

EN43B – BRIGHT BAR Annealing:

• Temperature: 680 – 710°C; soak well and cool slowly in the furnace.

EN43B – BRIGHT BAR Machinability:

• Rating: EN43B offers good machinability for a variety of engineering applications.

EN43B – BRIGHT BAR Welding:

• Guidelines: Welding of EN43B should follow standard procedures, with stress tempering recommended for pre-hardened conditions.
